3D X-ray at moderndentistry enables precise diagnostics with low radiation exposure. For optimal treatment planning and detection of even the smallest changes—fast, painless, and highly accurate.
Modern dentistry requires precise diagnostics for optimal treatment results. Conventional two-dimensional X-ray images often reach their limits when it comes to detailed imaging of complex anatomical structures. This is where 3D X-ray comes into play—a revolutionary technology that enables us at moderndentistry to analyze your tooth and jaw structures with unparalleled accuracy.
DVT 3D diagnostics has fundamentally changed dental imaging. Our dentist Dr. Niels Hoffmann uses this advanced technology to plan and perform treatments with even greater precision. Especially for complex procedures such as implant planning or the diagnosis of jaw inflammation, 3D X-rays offer decisive advantages for comprehensive diagnostics and targeted treatment.

Dr. med. dent. Niels Hoffmann
Dentist – moderndentistry
Before founding moderndentistry Leipzig, our dentist and founder Dr. Hoffmann worked as an aesthetic dentist at the White Lounge and the Voss Clinic in Leipzig, helping many satisfied patients achieve a new smile.
As a Clinical Masters™ for Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, he completed international specialist training in cooperation with the University of San Francisco and the American Dental Association and is networked with world-renowned dental technicians and dentists to ensure the highest quality and aesthetics.
In 2023, Dr. Hoffmann was awarded the jameda quality certificate for his consistent patient focus and first-class treatment quality. Based on the testimonials of his patients on jameda.de, he received a 5-star rating and is thus one of the top dentists in the region. This seal of approval confirms his commitment to trust, care, and excellent dentistry.
3D X-rays are used when two-dimensional images are insufficient or additional information is needed for precise treatment planning. In implant planning, they show us the exact bone structure and the location of important anatomical structures such as nerve pathways for millimeter-precise placement.
Chronic inflammation of the jawbone (NICOs) is often not visible on conventional X-rays, but becomes visible with DVT 3D diagnostics. Complex root canal paths and their branches can be displayed in three dimensions. When removing wisdom teeth, the technology helps to minimize risks to neighboring structures.

Preparation is very simple and does not require any special measures. Before the examination, we will have a detailed discussion with you and answer all your questions. Metallic objects such as jewelry, glasses, or removable dentures must be removed as they can affect the image quality.
Anesthesia is not necessary, as the examination is completely painless. Pregnant patients should inform us of their pregnancy. Our team will ensure that you feel comfortable and safe throughout the entire preparation process.
The scan takes only a few seconds. You will stand or sit in a special position in the DVT device while the X-ray sensor rotates once around your head. It is important that you remain completely still and do not swallow in order to ensure optimal image quality.
The modern DVT device is quiet and comfortable. The radiation exposure is significantly lower than with a conventional CT scan. The images can be viewed and analyzed immediately after the scan. Dr. Niels Hoffmann carefully evaluates the images based on the latest scientific findings.
No special follow-up treatment is required after the 3D X-ray. You can resume your normal activities immediately. Sports, work, and all other activities are possible without restriction.
Our experienced dentist will carry out a detailed evaluation. We will discuss the results with you in detail at a separate appointment and, if necessary, plan further treatment steps based on the findings.

3D X-rays at moderndentistry are particularly patient-friendly, as the examination only takes a few seconds and is usually completely painless. You don't have to go into a narrow tube and you receive immediately usable results. Our experienced team ensures a relaxed atmosphere and answers all your questions in detail.
DVT 3D diagnostics uses a rotating X-ray sensor that takes hundreds of individual images from different angles in just a few seconds. A computer combines these images into a detailed three-dimensional model so that we can view your structures from all angles.
The costs depend on the complexity and medical necessity and start at €250. We will be happy to provide you with an individual cost estimate and advise you in detail before treatment.
Reimbursement depends on the medical indication and your insurance. We will be happy to assist you in clarifying this with your health insurance company and submit the relevant applications.
