The main difference between crowns and bridges lies in their application and construction. Dental crowns are used when the natural tooth is still present but severely damaged. They completely cover the prepared tooth and restore its protective function. Crowns can be used for both aesthetic and functional reasons.Dental bridges are used when one or more teeth are completely missing. They consist of several crowns connected to each other – the so-called bridge elements. The outer crowns are placed on the adjacent teeth, while the middle elements close the tooth gaps. At our modern dentistry practice, we provide comprehensive advice on which solution is best suited to your individual situation. Both types of dental prostheses are custom-made for you in our master laboratory and offer a permanent solution for damaged or missing teeth.
Dental crowns and bridges are long-lasting solutions for tooth replacement when they are professionally made and carefully maintained. At our modern dentistry practice, we exclusively use monolithic, all-ceramic restorations produced in our in-house CAD/CAM laboratory – metal-free, maximally biocompatible, extremely durable, and perfectly natural. With optimal care, crowns and bridges can last 15 to 20 years or even longer.
Longevity depends on various factors, such as the quality of the material, the precision of the fabrication, your individual oral hygiene, and regular dental check-ups. Dr. Niels Hofmann attaches great importance to ensuring that every dental prosthesis fits perfectly and is optimally integrated into your dentition. Regular follow-up checks allow any problems to be detected and remedied at an early stage, which further extends the service life. Good oral hygiene and avoiding harmful habits such as teeth grinding also contribute to longevity.
The cost of dental crowns and bridges varies depending on the extent of the treatment, the material chosen, and the individual situation. At moderndentistry, you will receive a transparent cost estimate after a comprehensive diagnosis and consultation. Statutory health insurance companies grant a fixed subsidy for dental prostheses, the amount of which is based on the individual findings.
We would be happy to advise you personally in our practice for a more accurate cost estimate. At , we will also inform you about possible financing options and cooperation with supplementary dental insurance companies.

Before we begin the actual treatment, Dr. Niels Hoffmann will carry out a comprehensive diagnosis. This includes a thorough examination of your teeth and jaw area as well as X-rays. We will then discuss the various treatment options with you in detail and develop an individual treatment plan.
We take both functional and aesthetic aspects into account when planning your treatment. Our team will explain the treatment process to you in detail and clarify all the important points. Together, we will select the right material for your dentures and match the color perfectly to your natural teeth.
The actual treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia and is therefore generally painless. For a dental crown, the affected tooth is first prepared, which means it is shaped and slightly ground down. For a bridge, the adjacent teeth are prepared accordingly to serve as anchors.
After preparation, we take precise impressions, which serve as the basis for the fabrication of your individual dentures in our master laboratory. During the fabrication period, you will receive temporary dentures that will serve you until the final crowns or bridge are ready. The final dentures are manufactured using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology and attention to detail to create distinctive, unique pieces. After about one to two weeks, we can insert your new dentures and check the fit and bite.
After your new dentures have been fitted, regular check-ups are important to ensure that they fit and function optimally. You may experience slight sensitivity in the first few days after treatment, but this will quickly subside. Our team will provide you with detailed care instructions.
We recommend that you avoid hard foods for the first 24 hours after treatment and take care of the treated area. You can usually resume your normal activities the very next day. Regular professional teeth cleaning and good oral hygiene are crucial to the longevity of your dentures.

A dental crown is a cap that is placed over a damaged tooth to give it shape, size, strength, and appearance. At moderndentistry, we exclusively use monolithic, all-ceramic crowns produced in our in-house CAD/CAM laboratory—metal-free, maximally biocompatible, extremely durable, and perfectly natural.
Dental crowns are suitable for patients with severely damaged teeth that can still be preserved. They are the ideal solution for extensive caries, cracks in the tooth, or after root canal treatment when a filling is no longer sufficient.
With careful care and regular checkups, dental crowns can last 15 to 20 years or longer. Longevity depends on the quality of the material, oral hygiene, and individual factors.
Dental crowns are cared for in the same way as natural teeth: brush at least twice a day, use dental floss daily, and have regular professional teeth cleanings. Avoid chewing on hard objects.
A dental bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis that closes one or more gaps between teeth. It is attached to the adjacent teeth and consists of several crowns connected to each other.
Our dental bridges are made from the same high-quality materials as our crowns – exclusively monolithic, all-ceramic restorations produced in our in-house CAD/CAM laboratory. These are metal-free, maximally biocompatible, extremely durable, and perfectly natural.
Tooth bridges are suitable for patients with one or more missing teeth where the adjacent teeth are stable enough to serve as anchors. They are an alternative to Implants.
Dental bridges have a similar lifespan to single crowns – with good care, they can last 15 to 20 years or longer. Regular check-ups are important for longevity.
Dental bridges require special attention when cleaning the spaces between them. Use dental floss or special bridge cleaners to prevent bacteria buildup. Regular professional cleanings are recommended.
