During treatment
The gummy smile treatment procedure depends on the method chosen. In the case of a minimally invasive Gingivectomy for minor corrections, the treatment begins with a local anesthetic before Dr. Hoffmann precisely removes excess gum tissue and recontours it. This method is particularly suitable for corrections of up to 1-2 mm. For more extensive corrections, surgical crown lengthening is used. After local anesthesia, the gums are precisely modeled using a custom-made template (based on the Digital Smile Design). Both soft tissue and, if necessary, bone structures are treated to achieve the optimal tooth length and proportion. In a further treatment phase, veneers are then fabricated that are perfectly matched to the new gum line and create a harmonious overall appearance.
After treatment
After a gingivectomy or surgical crown lengthening, the gums may be sensitive for a few days, and we recommend particularly gentle oral hygiene. Regular check-ups are important to monitor the healing process. In the case of veneer treatment, further appointments are necessary after the gums have healed to adjust and integrate the veneers.
